Senior Partner

Graduated from the University of Rhodesia in 1974 with a B.L. (Hons) and an LL.B degree.  He was admitted as a partner of Atherstone & Cook in 1979 and specialises in family law, criminal matters and unlawful detentions in which he has had very substantial experience.   He has acted in many high profile criminal and civil matters and is generally regarded as one of the pre-eminent divorce lawyers in the country.

Gary M Crosland

Graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1976 and 1978 with degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws.  He was admitted as a partner in Atherstone & Cook in 1982 and specialises in company and commercial work, both litigious and non-litigious.  He has had considerable experience in drafting commercial contracts. He is also very experienced in dealing with trusts, wills and the administration of deceased estates (he is a registered Estate Administrator), and has much expertise in property law and in the conveyance of immovable property; and latterly, with mining law and conducting due diligences on behalf of banks and other financial institutions. He also deals with matrimonial matters.

Linda Ann Cook

Commercial and Media Law Partner

Graduated from Cape Town University with a B.Proc and was admitted as a legal practitioner in 1983 and as a partner in Atherstone & Cook in 1984.  She specialises in property law, including sectional title law, and company, commercial and contract law.  She also has had vast experience in media law, particularly the law of defamation affecting newspapers and individuals, including criminal defamation, and is considered the leading expert in Zimbabwe on defamation. She is an experienced conveyancer of immovable property and has considerable experience in commercial litigation.

Innocent Chagonda

Graduated from the University of Zimbabwe with a BL (Hons) and an LL.B in 1989 and was admitted as a legal practitioner in February 1990 and admitted to partnership in April 1993.  His specialties are labour law and criminal law.  He has appeared in a number of high profile civil and criminal cases in the High Court and the Supreme Court in recent years.  Over recent years he has gained considerable expertise and experience in corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, and acts frequently in regard to such matters.

Graduated from the University of Zimbabwe with a BL (Hons) and an LL.B.   Pursuant to a merger with her law firm Wickwar & Chitiyo which had a sizeable conveyancing practice, she was admitted to partnership in March 2009.  Cathrine has specialised in property law and conveyancing, and is the Conveyancing Partner; and also focuses on commercial advisory services, estate planning, legal due diligences. Cathrine is a current member of the Conveyancing Committee of the Law Society of Zimbabwe.

Christopher Mhike

Chris Mhike graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree at the University of Zimbabwe in 2002, and holds a Master of Laws degree specialising in Intellectual Property and Communications Law from Michigan State University (USA).  Chris joined the firm in 2003 and was admitted to partnership in 2005.  His areas of expertise include human rights, media, criminal law, constitutional law, and aviation law.  Chris is a qualified journalist who served as a Commissioner at the Zimbabwe Media Commission (ZMC) between 2010 and 2015.  He is a Chevening Fellow, and a product of the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP).

Tawanda Nyamasoka

Tawanda Nyamasoka

Graduated from the University of Zimbabwe in 2006 with an L.L.B (HONS) degree. He was admitted as a legal practitioner in 2007 and as a partner in 2013. Before joining the firm, he was with the Attorney-General’s office where he worked as a Public Prosecutor thereby attaining a strong background and bias towards criminal law. His area of focus is labour law, family law and litigation of all kinds including but not limited to property law and succession law. He has gained experience in commercial law particularly in conducting due diligence, drafting of agreements and opinions.

Graduated from Rhodes University in 2006 and 2008 with a Bachelor of Social Science (B.S.S) and Bachelor of Law (LLB) and has a Higher Diploma in Tax Law with the Thomas Jefferson University. She was admitted as a legal practitioner in 2009 and as a partner in Atherstone & Cook in 2013.  She has experience in leading business transactions in corporate investments, corporate restructuring, tax law advisory and general cross border transactions. Miranda has represented local and international entities on an expansive range of commercial transactions in different sectors with notable ones in oil and gas, mining, transportation and logistics, banking and finance and real estate.

Graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 2014 with an LLB (HONS) degree. He joined the firm in 2014 and was admitted as a partner in January 2019. Tafadzwa has a keen interest in commercial and corporate law and has advised on a number of corporate restructuring cases over the years.  Tafadzwa also undertakes labour law work, together with both civil and criminal litigation.
